Though this is Wushu form of Shaolin kung, there is no, forgive me my brothers of the art, no eagle in it but the example of the downward claw.., the other moves are nice but remover the spirit of the eagle, you need just look at my 5 animal design to see the greater difference, but if you seek a system that is more show then skill, other then ballet.... the choice is yours, look for the power of the claw not the dances in it.., and not where its practiced, or how many people as the "older times" the claw was practiced as many an older martial art has in "hidden" and small groups...not hundred as others try to do this day for "life recreation and health camps" unless you seek only that...(i wish our brothers well, but i wish our brothers the spirit of the eagle as well)

classic story about an outsider learning the way of the sword, aka
samurai... and the test and blood he will spill to get it.. (this is
awesome because it shows in the training that if you miss your mark in
kenjutsu you get hit, and hit, and hit) in today's schools you only get
the practice of trying to hit, but that's because your styling at it,
not study... but never the less it is one heck of a film about
traditional and non traditional samurai and the war of ego.. (which of
course is movie only right?

this
movie is about the dance like application and study of wu-shu, wu isn't
kung nor is shu ...fu (they are separate designs based in the spirit
and skill of their own mastery, wu was never invented to fight, nor was
kung (gung) was invented for play... but both are spiritual expressions
of the arts, i feel ever since the boxer rebellion alot of what we would
have seen would have remained... but give props to Jacky anything he
does is pure.....spirit....

It
would have done better if they tried to do it right instead of flashy
movements and blood and gore, shadow and "mystery" (like the movie "the
hunted") do we really want to see ninja who are flashy kungfu weapons
dancers? (or do we deserve the core of our art..)

the Heart that "when one enters into the training to be one, it is the
training that takes over, however again it showed the idea that in the
Arts there are sides, Not merely just out shadowing ego's and self
worth....
I would have wished it was more about the samurai, then about the family of a none family issue.....

Is
a great example of the when the student is ready the master will
appear, however it is also the idea of if "pride" gets in the way of
your path, then you will be outside looking in.....and that in ever art
there is basic awareness and hidden potential.....
